Understand AI timelines, manual tagging, and how to promote sessions.
AI vs Manual Annotation
Decide when to rely on AI detections, when to tag manually, and how to blend both in one session.
AI vs Manual Annotation
Soccer-Insights supports both AI-driven detections and human tagging. The best reviews use both: AI surfaces every touch or transition, while coaches add context that machines miss.
When to Use AI
- High-volume games: Let AI map every possession change, buildout, and press so you never miss a sequence.
- Scouting opponents: Quickly scan patterns (e.g., attacking third entries) before you dive into specifics.
- Turnaround time: AI runs in the background and usually finishes within the hour, even for long matches.
When Manual Shines
- Coaching nuances: Tag teaching moments like “Body Shape,” “Communication,” or “Leadership” that AI cannot infer.
- Custom metrics: Track club-specific KPIs or training objectives.
- Quality control: Review and confirm AI tags before sharing externally.
Blending the Two
- Turn on Dual Mode to show AI tags in gray and manual tags in team colors.
- Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly promote or dismiss AI suggestions.
- Add comments directly on AI events when you need to clarify context for players.
Supported Annotation Events
The palette is grouped by category (General Play, Defensive, Set Pieces, etc.) and each section can be expanded or collapsed depending on what you are tagging. Every button shows its keyboard shortcut inline:
- Touch (T), Pass (P), Shot (S), Goal (G), Dribble (D)
- Tackle (K), Interception (I), Clearance (L), Ball Recovery (R)
- Corner (O), Free Kick (E), Throw-In (H), Penalty (Y)
- Save (V), Offside (X), Foul (F), Card (C), Substitution (U)
Hover over a button to see guidance such as “Mark when the ball is cleared defensively.”
Every event button includes a hover tooltip (“Mark when the ball is cleared defensively.”) and the same iconography is reused in the timeline, reports, and analytics exports so terminology stays consistent across the product.
Remember to lock the tag board once a session is finalized so AI re-runs don’t adjust your finalized definitions.
