Promoting a Session to Primary

Session promotion flow

Large clubs often experiment with multiple analytics sessions per match. Promoting one session to Primary ensures downstream tools—reports, highlights, search—reference the same authoritative tags. Promotion is reversible, so you can iterate safely.

Promotion Criteria

  • Tag completeness (all required categories reviewed).
  • Coach sign-off on AI detections.
  • Notes and clips curated for players or guardians.
  • Session status updated to Reviewed.

How to Promote

  1. Open the session you want to promote.
  2. Click the Session Actions menu (…).
  3. Select Promote to Primary.
  4. Confirm the warning that existing primary sessions will move to Archive status.

After Promotion

  • Player and team reports automatically pull from the new primary session.
  • Guided Tour and inline help links will default to this session when users click “View analytics.”
  • Previous primary sessions remain accessible under the Archived tab for reference.

Best Practices

  • Limit promotions to coaches or admins to avoid confusion.
  • Use the session description to note why a promotion happened (“Includes dual-angle review + staff sign-off 4/12”).
  • If you need to revert, open the prior session and select Promote to Primary again.
