Using Tags in Analytics Sessions

Learn how to add, remove, and manage tactical tags while annotating matches.

Using Tags in Analytics Sessions

Tactical tags connect what you see on film with what the rest of the staff sees in reports. This guide walks through the Annotate tab workflow and shows how tags flow downstream into Highlights and Reports.

What Are Tags?

  • Phases of play: Build-up, Transition Defense, Set Piece Defense.
  • Outcomes: Key Pass, Duel Win, Turnover.
  • Emphasis: Communication, Pressure, Final Third.

You can stack multiple tags on a single moment (e.g., Transition Defense + Turnover) so later filters stay flexible.

Add or Remove Tags

  1. Open a match in the Annotate tab.
  2. Select an event from the timeline or Event List.
  3. Use the Tag Selector panel to search existing tags or create a new one (coaches can add up to five new tags per dropdown session).
  4. Selected tags appear as colored chips—click the × to remove.
  5. Save the session to persist changes; players only see tags marked as player-visible.

Best Practices

  • Keep a shared vocabulary (e.g., Build-up, Transition, Set Piece) so staff can compare across matches.
  • Combine a phase tag with an outcome tag to highlight what happened (Transition Offense + Key Pass).
  • Use keyboard shortcuts (if configured) to keep tagging in rhythm with playback.
