Understanding Deltas & Comparisons

Delta comparison chart

Deltas show how performance shifts over time. Soccer-Insights calculates them automatically for every tracked stat and displays them inside analytics, reports, and dashboards. Knowing how they’re derived ensures you present data confidently.

Delta Types

  • Match-to-Match: Difference between the current match and the previous appearance.
  • Rolling Average: Compares the last N matches (default 5) to the season average.
  • Peer Comparison: Benchmarks a player against position group averages inside the same workspace.

Reading the Charts

  • Green indicates positive movement relative to your configured goal.
  • Hover over a point to see the exact value, sample size, and contributing matches.
  • Use filters (opponent quality, home/away) to isolate the most relevant context.

Best Practices

  • Set goals in Player Profiles so deltas align with individual development plans.
  • Combine deltas with qualitative notes to explain why a number changed.
  • When presenting to guardians, keep the dashboard to three key stats to avoid data overload.

If numbers look off, confirm the underlying sessions are linked to the right matches and marked as Primary.
